Educational Options
Public, private, charter, alternative, boarding, online, home schools.... As a school psychologist and former teacher, I have over 20 years of experience working in public and private schools from preschool through college students. I rely on this background combined with information about your child to support your decision making process as you choose the next educational environment for your child.
What do Licensed Clinical Psychologists Do?
Clinical psychologists can work in many capacities. In my practice, I support families as they determine how to address concerns related to a child’s, adolescent's or young adult's academic achievement, behavior, social or emotional development. Through assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and brief therapy, I help design interventions, connect families with resources in the community, as well as provide education around services and supports in their child's school environment. I also work with adults who think that assessment might be necessary to help uncover a previously undiagnosed condition.
When describing what I do to children, I often tell them that I am a detective. By spending time with kids, asking questions, having conversations, and engaging in cognitive tasks, we work together to figure out what is getting in the way at school or work. We build a pattern of strengths and weaknesses that can help explain why some parts of school or work are harder than others.
About Me
Welcome! I’m Anna, a clinical psychologist, mother of 3, aunt of 7, sister of 2, and partner of 1. I’ve been working in public and private schools for the last 23 years, primarily as a credentialed school psychologist. Formerly, I was a public school teacher and social worker. Throughout my practice, I have developed a problem-solving approach to all of my work. I start by creating strong relationships with students and families while empowering them with the appropriate tools so that they can learn to advocate for themselves in their primary settings: with their providers, school leaders, teachers, families, and communities. By focusing on problem-solving, developing coping skills, and practicing self-advocacy, we build critical skills necessary for successful relationships in schools and beyond.
