About Dr. Farr Carey
Welcome Dr. Farr Carey!
Dr. Farr Carey will be joining me as she acquires hours towards her clinical psychology license in New York. We will now be able to expand our practice in several key ways that we hope will better meet the needs of the community.
Dr. Farr Carey completed a Master’s degree and Doctorate in School Psychology at Alfred University. She has worked with children ages three to 18 in a public school setting as a school psychologist for the past 17 years, with the majority of her work focused on elementary and middle school-aged children. Her scope of practice within the school setting includes psycho-educational and psychological assessment (assessment for learning disabilities, attentional concerns, memory, autism, and social emotional or mental health concerns). She provides individual and group counseling, case management, crisis intervention, consultation with teachers, parents, and community agencies, functional behavior analysis, behavior intervention planning and teaching lessons related to pro-social skills. Her therapeutic approaches include a basis in therapeutic crisis intervention, trauma-based counseling and support, play therapy, cognitive behavioral strategies, social skill development, and teaching emotional regulation skills. Relationships are key in her practice in working with children and families. Through strong relationships we can uncover underlying challenges students and families may be facing and work together to develop strategies for helping children find success.
